Join our lovely rose tour in Österlen!

Welcome to three lovely days at Österlen - the landscape of roses. 29 June – 1 July 2024.

Beautiful Österlen has long been a landscape of roses. The rose has adorned the farmers' gardens and been cared for in the fishing villages. At Rosentorget in Simrishamn, the heritage rose association “Österlenrosor” has collected several hundred old roses from the villages of Österlen, a unique cultural heritage that testifies to the region's love for the rose.

Österlenrosor celebrates twenty years 2024. We would love to share our beautiful roses with rose lovers from near and far! The tour will take you to some of the landscape's most beautiful rose gardens and nurseries over three days. We will do rose walks and search for roses in the villages and participate in the “Rosfest”, the Rose festival in Simrishamn. All under the knowledgeable and inspiring guidance of Österlenrosor's guides Else Olsson and Mia Gröndahl.

Saturday 29 June

Inaugurated at 11.00

The Rose festival will be inaugurated on June 29 at 11.00 and takes place throughout Simrishamn until 16.00. Packed lunches are served in Bergengrenska garden and coffee at Rosentorget in the afternoon.

The participants gather at 18.00 at Svea Hotell for dinner with entertainment.

Sunday 30 June

Departure at 09.00

Departure to the English Garden at Svabesholm. Anette Cato, one of the garden's founders, welcomes and shows us the garden with its beautiful roses.

10.30 Coffee break at Svabesholm.
11.15 Departure for Kivik.
Landscape architect Tommy Nordström shows the neo-renaissance gardens he designed for Kivik's hotel by the sea.

Monday 1 July

Departure at 9.30

09.30 Departure for Brantevik (for the early risers, we suggest a morning dip, a rose walk in the city or why not visit the Breakfast Meeting down on Hamnplan).

09.45 Arrival in Brantevik, and rose walk through the old fishing village.
10.45 Departure to Killahuset's garden in Sandby. Coffee is served and Mia Gröndahl shows and tells the story about her garden.
12.30 Departure for Skillinge and lunch.

Arrival at Skillinge for lunch. 

13.45 Rose walk in the old fishing village of Skillinge.
14.45 Departure to Roskraft in Kvarnby.
15.00 Arrival at Roskraft in Kvarnby. Else Olsson shows and tells about the roses in the nursery and how to propagate roses with cuttings. Coffee/tea is served.
16.30 Departure for Simrishamn.
For those who wish and have planned to continue to Kalmar and the regional WFRS rose conference, we will be happy to help you with travel suggestions to Kalmar.
